American Idol Season 21 is premiering soon, and fans have another Hawaii round to look forward to this year. The show is returning to Disney’s Aulani Resort, as this season’s contestants will perform for their chance to move on in the competition.

American Idol Is Returning to Disney’s Aulani in Hawaii

On Thursday, the official American Idol account posted confirmation that the show is heading back to Hawaii this season. The post features a photo of the three judges (Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan) and host Ryan Seacrest posing on the beach at Aulani. They’re joined by Mickey and Minnie.

The Disney Parks Blog also shared the news in a post this week, confirming that this round of the competition will cover two episodes and feature celebrity mentors who will help the contestants deliver their best performances.

“After earning the chance to become the next American Idol, contestants will travel to Hawaii to sharpen their vocal skills with the help of celebrity mentors and showcase their talents in a concert along the breathtaking shores of Aulani Resort,” the post reads.

The New Season Premieres February 19

Fans of American Idol don’t have to wait long to see the new season, as it’s set to premiere on Sunday, February 19, at 8/7c on ABC. This is the show’s sixth season on the network, having previously aired on FOX for the first 15 seasons.

The season will kick off with the audition round, as the contestants sing for the judges in the hope of receiving a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week. This second round is one of the toughest parts of the competition, as the crop of hopefuls is narrowed down by the judges.

The Hawaii round typically takes place after Hollywood Week, as the remaining contestants have a little vacation fun in between practicing for their next performance. Whoever remains in the competition after this round will perform for the audience vote.
