Everyone knows Chef Gordon Ramsay isn’t usually the most calm person on television. He is know to get a bit angry and yell more often than not. When celebrity contestant Amanda Barrie got angry on Hell’s Kitchen, she took it out on Gordon. Things got physical and it was honestly a bit awkward. Take a look at the 2007 confrontation below.

‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Contestant Amanda Barrie Swung At Gordon Ramsay And Missed

Gordon asked Amanda to join him for a chat for a few seconds because he could tell she was annoyed on that episode of Hell’s Kitchen. Though she was reluctant to join him she trotted over. “I’m absolutely exhausted because of the silly hours” she said. “The silly, silly, silly stupid hours.” Gordon maintained that Amanda was the one who agreed to be on the show and sat with her agent to sign a contract for it.

“I had absolutely no idea that these hours would have people bursting into tears every five minutes, it’s not my scene quite honestly” she said. Gordon said that she should not be shouting in front of the team that was competing on the show. This completely set her off and Amanda went to slap him in the face. However, his cat-like reflexes allowed him to catch her hand and prevent the slap from happening. “Don’t be so stupid” he told her.

“Calm down” Gordon continued. “Don’t raise your hands.” Once again Amanda went to swing and try to hit Gordon but he was able to deflect the shot. It was when she went to hit him a third time that prompted the other contestants to come over and try and de-escalate the situation.

What Was The Fallout From This Argument?

The next day, Gordon and Amanda had a chat to clear the air. “Well, when I took a swipe at you yesterday quite honestly I thought ‘I’m totally out of control here’ and I’m obviously not in control of myself when I’m around you” she said. “I’m either in tears or taking a whack at you. I thought that was no way to behave – I made a complete and utter fool of myself.”

 “Can I just say it was a bloody good shot” Gordon remarked. But Amanda said that she was going to be leaving Hell’s Kitchen. “I would like to go home now and watch this show in bed with a bottle of champagne and fish and chips” she said. “It has been quite an experience, chef, but I think I should get out of the way before I screw up anything else, chef.”

In 2018, Amanda joined the cast of Celebrity Big Brother and reflected on her Hell’s Kitchen argument. “In Hell’s Kitchen I was removed” she said. “I hit Gordon Ramsay. He stopped me just there. But yes, he deserved it. Anyway I won’t go into that. But that is public knowledge. I’m not proud of it.”
