Leomax taps development director

Steinberg marks company's first hire

Newly minted Leomax Entertainment has named David Steinberg as director of development and acquisitions in its first hire since the company’s formation.

Steinberg had served previously as director of development at New Line-based Stokely Chaffin Prods. He’ll be responsible for identifying and bringing projects to Leomax for release through its genre label, Indigomotion, along with overseeing acquisitions for the Leomax, which will annually release four to six pics budgeted between $3 million and $25 million.

Leomax has a first look deal with Overture Pictures and a multipic co-financing arrangement with Overture sister company Starz Home Entertainment. It’s also raised a development, production and acquisition fund through Swiss hedge fund Leomax AG.

German producer-investment banker Ingo Vollkammer and American producer Scott Einbinder announced the launch of Leomax in February.

“David is a great addition to our team and company’s vision — to find and meld high-concept genre driven content with up-and-coming international directors,” Vollkammer said.
